Queanbeyan Indoor Sports Centre extension concept plans

Council is seeking community feedback on the concept drawings for the Extension of Queanbeyan Indoor Sports Centre.

Background

The extension of Queanbeyan Indoor Sports Centre is the result of a $2.25m grant from the Federal Government and Council’s approval on 25 January 2017 for a $2.25m loan to fund the balance. Following the exhibition of the concept drawings, the extension will progress to the development application phase, with staff hopeful of commencing construction around mid-2017.

About the project

Upgrade of the facility is from a two court operation to five court operation. The additional assets
and associated maintenance will be included within Councils asset hierarchy and maintenance
plans.

The car parking required for the proposed extension will need to be provided on the adjacent
crown reserves. The proposed drawings include the development of new paths and lighting which will provide clear and simple access to the centre.
