Consultation has now concluded.
Following resolution of two matters at the 28 October 2020 Council meeting, amendments are proposed to the 2020-21 Operational Plan Property Addendum. The matters are listed below.
Bungendore carpark
Council resolved in October 2020 to finalise the design and seek tenders on the Bungendore carpark, with vehicular access from Ellendon St.
As part of the resolution, Council resolved to Progress acquisition of and form a pedestrian access from Gibraltar St to the carpark. The land required for a pedestrian access is 15 and/or 17 Gibraltar St, Bungendore.
In August 2020, Council considered a proposal from the Department of Education (DoE) for the construction of a new high school in Bungendore in the Majara/Gibraltar St area to establish an education precinct adjacent to the primary school. The proposal by DoE was subject to community and Council feedback, with a final proposal presented and supported by Council at its meeting on 28 October.
The final proposal includes the following community facilities provided through DoE:
new high school
new floodlit sporting oval at the primary school
new games courts
new QPRC community centre and meeting rooms
new QPRC customer centre and library
retained Mick Sherd Oval and facilities
financial contribution to new 8 lane outdoor heated swimming pool (to be constructed by Council)
joint use arrangements for the ovals, reserve, courts and facilities
As part of the final proposal, Council agreed to the sale of the following parcels of land:
2 Majara St
4-6 Majara St
10 Majara St
Majara St road reserve between Turallo Terrance and Gibraltar St
The value of these parcels of land are based on independent land valuations.
As part of the proposal, Council will commence proceedings to:
close the relevant sections of Majara St
subdivide and repurpose part of the Crown reserve on Mick Sherd Oval
lease part of the closed Majara St road reserve to Abbeyfield Housing under licence
