Consultation has concluded
Council is proposing to amend the Queanbeyan Fixed Levy Development Contributions Plan.
This Plan has been prepared under Section 7.12 of the NSW Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979. The Queanbeyan Fixed Levy Development Contributions Plan (‘the Plan’) applies to all new development within the established urban areas of Queanbeyan, excluding South Jerrabomberra and Googong.
The Plan authorises Council to collect contributions from developers for a broad range of essential infrastructure and services required by the area’s growing population. It collects contributions via a levy on development over $100,000 in value as follows:
developments valued at $100,001 and up to $200,000 are levied a contribution of 0.5% of the development costs; and
development types valued in excess of $200,000 are levied a contribution rate of 1.0% of the development costs.
The Plan was adopted by Council on 22 January 2020 and came into effect on 14 April 2020. This is the first time the plan has been reviewed and amended.
The proposed amendments to the Plan include an updated schedule of works, changes to the exemption category including an additional exemption item, an expansion to the area of application, updates to relevant population data and definitions, and changes to the structure and format of the document to better align it with other Council plans.
Submissions on the proposed amendments to the Plan can be made until 4:30 p.m. on Friday 9 July 2021, in the following ways:
