Consultation has concluded

Council has prepared a new draft Queanbeyan Palerang Local Environmental Plan 2020 (QPLEP 2020) to harmonise and consolidate the existing Local Environmental Plans (LEPs) that apply to the former Queanbeyan and Palerang Local Government Area (LGA). This is being done as a consequence of the Local Government amalgamations in 2016 to ensure one single comprehensive LEP exists covering the LGA.

As a result it is also necessary for Council to update all current Development Control Plans (DCPs) to reflect the new QPLEP 2020. The following DCPs have been amended to reflect this change as well as a number of other administrative updates:

  • Palerang DCP 2015
  • South Jerrabomberra 2015
  • Queanbeyan DCP 2012
  • Googong DCP 2010
  • Braidwood DCP 2006

As well as the changes outlined above, the Palerang DCP 2015 has been updated to be consistent with the introduction of the NSW Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016. In addition, controls including a clear character statement have been added for the area covered under the North Elmslea Planning Proposal to ensure the low density, predominantly single storey character of well separated buildings is achieved in any future development
