Council is investigating a pipeline between east Queanbeyan and Bungendore as the long-term solution to the future water supply for Bungendore.
The planning framework for the proposed pipeline is the State Environmental Planning Policy (Transport and Infrastructure) 2021. As required under this legislation, a Review of Environmental Factors (REF) has been prepared and is now on public exhibition.
The REF has been prepared by NSW Public Works on Council's behalf. The preparation of the REF has included consultation with government and non-government stakeholders, and specialist assessments for biodiversity and an Aboriginal cultural heritage assessment.
The REF has considered the impacts and mitigation to the community and surrounding environment. It concludes that the environmental impacts associated with the proposal can be managed and implemented without resulting in a significant environmental impact.
You can find the REF in the document library.
