Council is reviewing parking in the Queanbeyan CBD and Braidwood to better understand current issues, demand, and usage patterns, and to improve access for businesses, residents, and visitors.
The review will consider parking availability, time limits, locations (on-street and off-street), and future needs, including how parking can better support economic activity and community use.
Council has engaged a consultant, Stantec, to undertake a comprehensive review of parking within Queanbeyan CBD and Braidwood. The review is currently in the information-gathering phase, which includes on-site parking audits conducted by Stantec in car parks around the Queanbeyan CBD and Braidwood. These audits provide insights into current parking patterns and community needs.
In addition to the audits, we are seeking input from the community to ensure the review captures a broad range of perspectives and experiences. Residents are encouraged to share their feedback through a brief online survey, which will help inform better car parking in the area and create better Council decisions. If you are providing feedback about Queanbeyan, the feedback should be provided about your experience of parking before the Monaro Street closure was in place.
Feedback can be provided by:
- Completing the online survey below
- Emailing feedback directly to council@qprc.nsw.gov.au with the subject title "Car Parking Review - Braidwood and Queanbeyan"
- Handwriting your submission and delivering it to Council's Customer Service Centres
- Posting your submission to PO Box 90, Queanbeyan NSW 2620
Submissions must be received by Council by Tuesday 12 May 2026. Feedback will be used to inform recommendations to Council for future parking improvements.
Then what?
Once we have received submissions from the community, Stantec will review the wants and needs of the community and produce a Draft Carparking Strategy document. This document will be put on public exhibition for consideration by the community. The strategy will compile the findings of this survey, the parking audit and provide recommendations for future parking in Queanbeyan and Braidwood.
