Consultation has now concluded

We must have an adopted Councillor Expenses and Facilities Policy in accordance with section 252 of the Local Government Act 1993. Our Policy is based on a Model Policy prepared by the Office of Local Government. It was updated with contemporary values during the last review in 2022. A comparison between other relative councils shows that QPRC’s Councillor Expenses and Facilities Policy contains generous and competitive entitlements. No changes to values are proposed as part of this review.

The Policy contains several annual monetary limits on certain expenses. Some of these are legislative amounts set by the ATO or the NSW Local Government Employee’s Award, others are discretionary amounts set by QPRC.

Proposed changes

  • Updating wording to reflect the title General Manager (not CEO) and Director (not Portfolio General Manager)
  • Schedule 1 Allowances under the Local Government (State) Award 2018
  • Schedule Forms contained within the Policy are also available as e-forms on the Councillor Portal
