Consultation has now concluded.
Our pools and aquatic facilities are valued and important community assets. They provide recreation, training, and educational opportunities for our community. The draft Aquatics Strategic Plan contains broad strategies and recommendations to guide us in the provision of aquatic facilities for the next 10 years.
The cost of funding aquatic operations is growing. To keep pools safe and compliant with NSW Health Regulations, Council will need to spend nearly $14 million over the next ten years. Grant funding will be very important over this time.
The strategy also includes new pools proposed for Bungendore, Googong and Jerrabomberra.
The plan outlines five strategies and broad objectives to achieve them.
Ensure financial sustainability of QPRC pools
Provide modern, safe and well-maintained aquatic centres across the region
Understand the social benefits of pools and provide a valued and competitive service to the community
Attract well qualified and committed staff for aquatic operations and programs
Improve the environmental performance of QPRC pools
Submissions on the draft policy are open until close of business Thursday 6 July 2023.
