A skatepark would be a great inclusion! An excellent way to get youth out of the house and enjoying time outside as a group

Skateparks in recent times have been great additions to local communities across NSW and the country, bringing people from different aspects of life into the same venue, giving people a chance to socialise and to relate to within eachother. A great place for children and adults to get exercise and spend some time outdoors, a skatepark would be an excellent addition to the Captains Flat community.

    Why not a skatepark

    Why not a skatepark

A skate park for bikes, scooters, skateboards and roller-skates would be of better then just play equipment. Captains Flat is a small town and we already have a playground and a park at the school within walking distance from all homes in Captains Flat. Playgrounds are great for smaller children, but once they reach teenage age, they don't want to play on swings etc.. A skatepark is for all ages, even my 21 year old still skates around but has to travel to QBYN. Skate parks cater for all ages and teach children good motor skills. Currently children are seen skating around the closed Service Station as there's nowhere else to ride bike and scooter. Council did do a dirt BMX track a few years ago and it hasn't been maintained and just left for the weeds and the kids can't use it. Swing sets and play equipment would also have to be continued to be replaced over time as wear and tear, a concrete skatepark would last years - it would be a shame to have just another park that wouldn't get used as much as a skatepark. I recently went to the QBYN Skatepark to watch my son and there were so many children having fun and a Bday party, all the kids were on the skatepark and no-one on the play equipment - please consider a skatepark for all aged children in Captains Flat. The S355 committee has also suggested this, and I'm also happy to try and get some sponsorship to chip in some $$ But $100,000 would be ample enough and maybe add a swing set too and a picnic table for parties?

Should put a skatepark there as well, it will attract new people skateparks always do! Out of Towners will come visit more often!

I know people have to drive to Queanbeyan and Canberra to go to skateparks that is why it would be convenient and with the price of fuel makes it hard for some
