We are seeking the community’s feedback on names for two parks and a community centre in South Jerrabomberra.
In consultation with the Tralee Resident’s Association, Village Building Company (VBC) has submitted names for the two newly developed public open spaces and newly developed community centre in South Jerrabomberra. The proposed names are South Jerrabomberra Town Park, Speargrass Community Park (for the dog park) and South Jerrabomberra Community Centre.
Town Park - South Jerrabomberra Town Park
The South Jerrabomberra Town Park encompasses an area of approximately 22,413m². The park has been developed as a key recreational and community facility and includes the following features:
- A learn-to-ride space with a primary bike track loop, education/gathering area, bike racks, picnic shelter, seating, a bike repair station, and a toddler-friendly zone designed to accommodate children with disabilities.
- A diverse play space featuring both formal play equipment and nature play elements such as log steppers.
- A concrete half-basketball court to support informal sporting activities.
- BBQ and amenities area including toilets, seating, and a drinking fountain, located adjacent to the play area.
- Formal park entrance highlighted by concentric garden beds and a fitness equipment zone with an additional drinking fountain
Speargrass Community Park (incorporating a dog park)
Speargrass Community Park is approximately 50,000m² in size and is located adjacent to the low-level reservoir off Speargrass Road. Designed as a destination open space, the park caters to a wide range of users, including dog owners and recreational visitors.
Key features include:
- Separate fenced areas for small and large dogs, each equipped with dog agility elements such as ramp bridges, hurdles, and interactive equipment to support dog enrichment while minimising potential conflict.
- A centrally located BBQ area with seating that is accessible to all park users, positioned outside of the fenced dog zones.
- Two toilet facilities, one near the car park and the other adjacent to the BBQ shelter, ensuring convenient access for all visitors.
Community Centre - South Jerrabomberra Community Centre
The South Jerrabomberra Community Centre is located at the corner of Environa Drive and Carnation Drive, the Community Centre provides flexible spaces for meetings, functions, and community events.
Key features include:
- Main Hall: Accommodates approximately 100 people, with seating and tables provided.
- Kitchenette: Equipped with a fridge/freezer and microwave to support event catering.
- Entrance Display: Features artwork and historical displays reflecting the history of the area.
- Meeting Rooms: Three smaller rooms at the western end cater to corporate-style meetings that do not require the larger space.

The names for the South Jerrabomberra open spaces are open for community comment from Thursday 13 November until Sunday 14 December 2025.

Only written submissions will be considered, and these must be received by Council before Sunday 14 December 2025. Any submissions received may be included in the final report to Council.
