Dogs playing together

After receiving a number of requests from the community for a fenced dog off-lead area with seating, water and shade in Bungendore, we have identified two possible locations. We are now after the community's feedback.

The first location is a site on the corner of Birch Drive and McMahon Drive and the second is the existing dog off-lead area on Turallo Terrace.

The Birch Drive location already has some established trees and access to houses via the existing shared path network. The Turallo Terrace site does present some challenges for fencing due to its proximity to the creek and floodway.

We think Birch Drive is a good location for a fenced dog park, which would allow Turallo Terrace to remain an open space for community recreation, but we would like to get feedback from the community.

It is estimated that a basic dog park can be established for between $50,000 and $75,000 with a further $30,000 if off-street parking is required. Funding will be considered for Council's 2019-20 budget.

The comments will be presented to a future Council meeting to select a preferred site and consider funding for the 2019-20 financial year.
