We are considering the viability of establishing a Council-operated tool library. We'd like to know whether the community would be interested and are seeking your feedback.

A community tool library allows patrons to check out tools, equipment and “how- to” instructional materials, functioning either as a rental shop, with a charge for borrowing the tools, or free of charge as a form of community sharing. A tool library performs the following tasks:

  • Lending: all kinds of tools for use in volunteer projects, facility maintenance and improvement projects, community improvement events and special events.
  • Advocacy: for the complete and timely return of all borrowed tools, to guarantee the long-term sustainability of available inventory.
  • Maintenance: performing routine maintenance and repair on all equipment to ensure good condition and to extend the lifespan of the inventory.

If you think a Council operated tool library would be useful for you, let us know by telling us what sorts of tools you'd like to borrow and completing the short survey below.
