Consultation has concluded
Does the Braidwood community want a skate park facility and where should this be located?
In December, Council asked staff to investigate and consult with the Braidwood community about a potential location for a skate park. Council stated that Ryrie Park was not to be considered as an option in this consultation. Staff have identified three potential sites and are open to hearing from the community about other potential locations.
In identifying sites, Council staff considered the following:
The land is owned by Council
The land is within a short walk/skate/ride distance to the Braidwood CBD
The three potential sites identified are:
Bicentennial Park – McKellar St, near Monkittee Creek (near the outdoor gym)
Hassall Reserve – corner of Lascelles St and Hassall Cct
Braidwood Recreation Ground – same side of the creek as tennis courts
If Council supports one of the potential sites, there is still much work required before a skate park would be constructed. This would include concept designs, development application and the allocation of funding for construction. Community consultation will be included in all three steps.
Council will be seeking feedback on the proposed sites from Wednesday 17 January 2018 until Wednesday 14 February 2018.
