The policy has been reviewed, and the following changes recommended:

  • Re-wording of purpose of the policy (Clause 2)
  • Re-wording of scope of policy (Clause 3)
  • Extension of definitions (Clause 4)
  • Additional reference to Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998
  • New Section – Council Commitments to Volunteering (Clause 6)

Background

This policy applies to:

  • all areas of Council that engage volunteers
  • individuals who volunteer with Council, including for services and/or programs that are funded by Council
  • Section 355 committee members

The purpose of the policy is to provide Councillors and staff guidance in the development, management and review of volunteering opportunities.

The 2025 review of the Volunteering Policy is open for community comment from Thursday 24 July to Thursday 21 August 2025. The draft Policy may be viewed:

  1. In the electronic Document Library on this page
  2. At Council’s Customer Service Centres, between 8.30am and 4.30pm Monday to Friday

Feedback can be provided on the draft Policy through:

  1. Completing an Online Submission Form (below)
  2. Emailing it directly to council@qprc.nsw.gov.au with the subject title Volunteering Policy
  3. Hand writing your submission and delivering it to Council's Customer Service Centres
  4. Posting your submission to PO Box 90, Queanbeyan NSW 2620
Only written submissions will be considered and these must be received by Council before Thursday 21 August 2025. Please note that any submissions received may be included in the final report to Council.
