We are seeking the community’s feedback on the Waterwise Policy.

This policy has been reviewed, and minor updates have been recommended:

Clause 6.1.2 include ‘June quarter’ to clarify when CPI is reviewed.

Clause 6.2.1 has an adjustment in the value of the maximum subsidy.

Clause 6.3.3/6.3.4 has an adjustment to the value of Category 1 and 2 Rebates based on indexing. Point 3 of the notes has been amended to specify which quarter rates will be adjusted.

Background

This policy supports the Waterwise program that offers incentives to eligible residents in Queanbeyan, Bungendore, Braidwood and Captains Flat who are connected to Council’s Water Supply. It is not available to commercial properties, other non-residential properties or residents of Googong Township.

The program offers:

  • Free home audits carried out by a licensed plumber
  • Subsidised dual flush toilets for eligible residences (following the home audit)
  • Subsidies for retrofitted rainwater tanks to existing residences
  • Subsidies for rainwater tanks to eligible new residences

The Waterwise Policy is open for community comment from Thursday 28 August until 25 September 2025. The documents may be viewed:

  1. In the electronic Document Library on this page
  2. At Council’s Customer Service Centres, between 9am and 4pm Monday to Friday

Feedback can be provided on the proposed names by:

  1. Completing an Online Submission Form (below)
  2. Emailing it directly to council@qprc.nsw.gov.au with the subject title " Waterwise Policy review"
  3. Handwriting your submission and delivering it to Council's Customer Service Centres
  4. Posting your submission to PO Box 90, Queanbeyan NSW 2620

Only written submissions will be considered, and these must be received by Council before Thursday 25 September 2025. Any submissions received may be included in the final report to Council.
