    Media release:

The approach into Queanbeyan’s CBD will be enhanced after Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council endorsed concept designs to upgrade the landscaping along Bungendore Road between the Queens Bridge and the Yass Road roundabout.

This project has been funded by the NSW Government’s Stronger Communities Fund.

“Council has been progressively upgrading the approaches into Queanbeyan. Previous work has included planting the crepe myrtles along Canberra Ave and replacing the missing pines along Farrer Place as part of the William Farrer Memorial. The tree plantings on Lanyon Drive and Yass Road that were done a few years ago are now well advanced and look great,” Mayor Tim Overall said.

“This funding from the NSW Government in the Stronger Communities Fund has given us the opportunity to address the approach along Bungendore Road.

“I am looking forward to seeing this upgrade come to life as we continue to enhance our beautiful city.”

The upgrades will include tree planting from the Yass Road roundabout continuing past the service stations, the selective removal of cypress pines due to ill health and for improved sight lines, the removal of diseased or hazardous eucalypts, landscaping along the Art Gallery boundary fence, a new entrance feature into the Sister City Park, new plantings at the Yass Road roundabout, and the construction of improved footpaths.

Further work to construct kerb and gutter along this whole section of Bungendore Road will progress as further funds become available.
