Hi my name is Martin Brown, I’m the Program Coordinator for Land-use Planning here at Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council. I’d just like to give you an overview of Council’s comprehensive Local Environmental Plan that staff are preparing at this time.

We are essentially looking to amalgamate Council’s respective planning controls into one single document. Council currently has seven separate Local Environmental Plans or LEPs and we’d like those all in one comprehensive document, largely because of the benefits it provides to council staff, industry and the community by having all of these controls in one central document.

Council is essentially seeking to minimise the new policy changes that’ll be happening when we prepare the new document. We have had the need to make some changes to permissible uses in some of the land-use zones and that’s done just because we do need to rationalise the documents. However, there will be significant background information accompanying the plan and maps when they go on exhibition that runs through these changes and explains why they’ve been made.

We are hoping we will get significant community feedback and we welcome any submissions from the public on the draft plan. Thank you very much.
