Consultation has now concluded.

We would like to hear ideas from the community to upgrade community facilities in Captains Flat as well as receive feedback on the suggestions below.

Council has allocated $100,000 through the NSW Government’s Stronger Communities Fund to upgrade community facilities in Captains Flat. The original scope of works for this project included: landscaping; tree planting; and park/playground works. A fully-fenced dog off-lead area is a late addition to the scope.

With this in mind, Council staff have conducted a site investigation and held a workshop with councillors. Some of the suggestions we are already aware of include:

  • Tree planting at village entrances and village town centre
  • Upgrade playground at sports and camping area
  • Creation of fenced dog off-lead area in the area near the bridge at the corner of Braidwood Road and Foxlow Street (this area does not contain amenities or other facilities)
  • Upgrade the toilet and shower facilities at the camping/sports area. Re-open ladies shower facilities (currently used for storage), paint internally and externally

The Captains Flat Area s.355 Committee has provided a report for suggested capital and maintenance works for the Captains Flat village for this and future financial years and Council staff will be meeting with this committee as well as the Community Association to discuss.

It is intended that the ideas put forward by the community will be presented to councillors for discussion, before further engagement with the community to set the works program, based upon the budget available.
